Training an 8 month old Pomeranian?

I have a male 8 month old Pomeranian.

I am the one training him. I train him in commands, and what to leave alone, and such.

He seems that now I've started the training with him, that he has become less attached to me? I am the one that walks him, feeds, him and such also. But yet, he is isn't as attached as he used to be.

He used to sit in my lap all the time, and chew toys. Now he doesn't do that, because he is afraid I will take whatever he has away from him.(I have to take other stuff away that he gets into)

Is there anyway to help this?

Make sure to keep your training fun and positive. You do need to teach him what to leave alone, but try doing it in a positive manner. So if you see your dog has got something you don't want him to have, get a big, smelly treat (so that he can see and smell it from a distance). Approach him slowly and show him what you have. Put the treat in front of his nose. Tell him to give or drop what he has and reward him with the smelly treat of higher value that you are holding. Once he learns he will get rewarded he won't be scared of you taking something away because you taking something away becomes good. This can eventually progress to you seeing your dog getting into a bag you don't want him in and you tell him leave it or come, and instead of grabbing whatever he can't have in the bag (or you having to physically remove him from the bag) you call him to you and he comes because he trusts that you have something better for him.

Make sure that while you train him you also play with him and keep things enjoyable for both of you. Training should make the bond between owner and dog better, not worse. Try teaching your dog fetch or a game involving his toys and make sure to take time to cuddle with him too.

Good luck!

How much would petsmart charge to groom my Pomeranian?

I have a 9lb pomeranian. I want to get the full service groom. Bath, haircut, nails.
Not a puppy. He's 5. I know it costs more when the dog has a lot of hair. Anyone ever taken a pomeranian there?
I know I could ask the store….I wanted to hear from people who have gone there.

I get my dog groomed there. It's $30 bucks for the bath, hair, and nails. She's a Yellow Lab-Spaniel mix, so she's a bit bigger than your Pom.
